Victoria Falls, Zambia- Day 3

On our last day at Victoria Falls we knew we had to visit the David Livingstone Museum.  What a treasure to view some of Dr. Livingstone's very own artifacts including original letters written to David's friends and family chronicling the journey that he was on.  Wow!

After the museum we headed back to the Falls to explore and hike more around the area.

Pictures just can't do this amazing sight justice.  The Falls are much bigger than one can even imagine.  God's might and power have never been more real.  What a creation of God!

How Great is our God?!

The four of us knew we wanted to see it all....again.  We took the path less traveled and headed into the roaring rain to get a closer look.  Victoria is at her peak right now so the bridges and places that are normally viewable are covered with mist and rain from her spray.  It didn't stop us though.  We got as close as possible to the beautiful Victoria.  We can truly say we had a shower in the Victoria Falls!

Above is a pic before the trek into the Falls.

And here we are after!  Amazing experience!  We're soaking wet and happy as can be!

After the hikes around the Falls it was time for some rest.  As the children were headed to the playground to play we were aware that there were elephants just outside the camp.  A heard was eating just beyond the playground.  What an experience!

K kids with the elephants!  Sooo close!

Gidgi having the time of her life!

J not sure what to think of the elephants being so close.

Thank you Lord, for this amazing experience.  May we never forget and may we always praise you as Lord of Lords and King of Kings!

Victoria Falls, Zambia- Day 2

Day 2 of our trip started with a little playground time followed by a safari drive through the national park.  We saw giraffe, zebras, buffalo, hippo, crocs, and many many other animals.  But most amazing of all....we saw the amazing white rhino!  Story below!

Baby J at 16 months.

On the safari drive!

Break time along the Zambezi.  The little boy to the left is currently being adopted by some friends that we met at the lodge we're staying in.  They went on the safari with us.

Our guide knew that we wanted to see the white rhino.  Little did we know that they were under 24 hour armed guard to keep them away from poachers.  So while we were on our break he got on his phone with a few of his buddies and they told him where the rhinos were currently at.  So off into the backwoods of the bush to see the rhinos.  We were able to get off of the truck and walk back off of the road a little ways with an armed guard in front of and behind us.  They were so very sweet.  But a little part of me wondered if the guards were for us or for the rhinos! ;)

First sight of the white rhinos.  This one standing is a 2 year old male baby.  He is still nursing.  So below you will see mama laying on her side so that the baby can nurse.

Guess I never thought about how difficult it would be to nurse a rhino!

Not many people we know have ever been able to see a white rhino in the wild!

Joseph, our great guard!  (or better yet...the rhino's guard!)

Another one of the guards with us!

It was an amazing beginning part of day 2.  Stay tuned for the next post!
