Christmas Day at Rainbow!

Our Christmas day was spent at Rainbow!  What a wonderful time we all had!  The kids were all dressed in their nicest dress and they even decorated a few of the bushes outside for part of the festivities.  Thankfully I brought a bunch of Christmas candies and decorations with me from the States and I couldn't imagine a better use of the items than sharing them with these beautiful children and the staff at Rainbow.  There was "American" Christmas music as well as "Malawian" music throughout the whole day.

Here is a pic of our candy spread.  AJ made 4 batches of peanut butter cookies and 4 batches of no bake drop cookies.  Then we had candy canes and gum drops and red hots!

The ladies in the kitchen were busy cooking the chicken, rice, gravy, and bread!

Our family brought a ton of spaghetti and fruit salad!  Here they are chopping up the delicious fruit!

And don't forget the desert!

Not to be outdone by the girls...the boys had their own performance for us.  I believe they are supposed to be dressed up as old men!

After lunch we got out the water toys that we brought.  A sprinkler type water game, a slip and slide, and a ball that shoots water!  The kids had so much fun!

What an amazing Christmas day and a memory that we will never forget!  Thank you, Lord for blessing us with this amazing place and these beautiful people! We are so thankful to serve!

Christmas Service at Rainbow CC

Today our family had the privilege of attending the Christmas worship service at our church, Rainbow Community Church.  Three other churches joined ours for one big and blessed Christmas service.  At least 4 village chiefs were also in attendance.  How amazing to see hundreds of Malawians praising our Savior and celebrating HIS birth!  (We were the only nono-Malawians in the service)

Five pastors shared brief messages with the congregation followed by singing, praying, and worship.  Here are two of our Rainbow pastors.  Pastor Nasson and Assoc. Pastor Martin.

One of my favorite pastors!  Jeremy was blessed to share a message.

Another village chief's wife.

Chief Nkhangamila and his wife both wanted their picture taken with J.

He was the little star of the service!

Lots of Coke, Sobo, and Fanta!

Everyone helping get the lunch prepared.

Our lunch consisted of rice, nsima (think extra fine grits without salt or butter), chicken, and biscuits (cookies to the Americans).

There was a TON of nsima!  It's the staple food in Malawi.  No meal is complete without it.

A blessing over the meal.

The chiefs and their wives and special guests are served first.

Patiently waiting for food.

The children were served from a separate line outside.

Hey, there are some really pale kids in that pic!  Wonder who they are?

What a blessed Christmas service that we will always remember.  Thank you Lord for your presence today!  It was truly felt!  To God be the Glory!
